My Juice Fast
I read a lot of different people’s experiences before starting my own fast and they all said the same thing. It’s hard! I have to agree. The first few days you have cravings like you would not believe. Just watching television commercials was excruciating. I wanted to NOM NOM NOM my t.v. Seriously, Olive Garden has some really awesome looking food. But after about the third day of total juicing the cravings went away and I no longer had the urge to lick my t.v. screen, which is a plus since I’m pretty sure it’s not a sanitary thing to do. But within a weeks time I will admit to absolutely HATING the juices. Three to four times a day I had to drink nothing but veggies and fruits mixed together in such a way that was palatable to me. I learned the hard way what tastes good and what doesn’t and how much of one veggie versus one fruit to put in.
I got over the whole hating to drink my meal thing, but even now there are still times I’m disgusted with it. However, I felt a lot better after starting it. I used to wake up and be an absolute zombie. If I could even do more than grunt I probably asked for brains instead of coffee, which I drank a lot of. By mid afternoon I would be so drained. I quit drinking coffee several days before I started juicing and now I don’t even miss it. I have a lot more energy, I’ve lost weight and I feel damn good.
I feel like I restarted or rebooted my entire system. I don’t have the crazy cravings anymore, I eat much healthier and it tastes good! My taste buds aren’t hampered by all the processed crap I ate before and my body thanks me for it.
Now I’m trying to get my girls away from the processed foods, it’s sort of an uphill battle at this point because I can’t and won’t take everything away from them, but I will have them eat healthier. Will they go vegetarian or even fully vegan? Not now, maybe even not ever, but at least they are getting more of the foods their bodies need.

I’m glad it’s working for you to kick start your healthier habits, Jen! One thing you’ve shown is how you have train your tastebuds to start craving the healthier items and not the processed and fatty items. That does take a while but once you do, you find you don’t like the junk as much as you used to! I still love my potato chips and have a hard time resisting dips, cheeses, and salty things. Everything in moderation is my motto for now.

Let me say congratulatios on your heathy choice! Did it end up going well? I always find the hardest part of a cleanse is sticking with it
I can’t imagine your kids are overly thrilled about the healthy turn – processed foods are fairly addictive! Maybe you’ll find they want to spend more time at their friends’ houses after school…
